Take a rickshaw around the peaceful lakes in Beijing's Shichahai district on this 2.5-hour tour. Get to know a local family, wander traditional alleyways, and pass by tranquil temples and peaceful pagodas around the lake in an old-fashioned rickshaw.
What to Expect
Explore Beijing's Shichahai district, where many of the Chinese capital's sights can be seen. This rickshaw tour meanders through Beijing's charming narrow alleys, known as Hutongs.
Shichahai is comprised of 3 lakes: Qinghai, Houhai, and Xihai, where peaceful temples and pagodas are scattered around near the heart of the Forbidden City.
The tour begins with private car pick-up from city hotels. Head to Shichahai Lake where a rickshaw-riding guide will be waiting. Visit one of Beijing's few unenclosed parks to see traditional temples and splendid mansions where members of the aristocracy once resided.
Leave the tourists behind and visit a local family in a traditional courtyard to find out about daily life in China. Finally climb the Drum Tower, used as the city's official government timepiece until 1924 at the end of the Qing Dynasty.
Marvel at the bird's eye view of old Beijing and reflect on the beauty, vitality, and charm of the Chinese capital before being returned to your hotel.
