Pick-up from hotel in the morning. Transfer to Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world from where you will enter the gates of the Forbidden City, known as the Palace Museum built during 1405 - 1420 and is the biggest ancient complex of buildings, consisting of political, living and enjoyment areas, in the world.
Through the Ming and Qing Dynasties between 1368 – 1905, 24 emperors ruled China from here. Enjoy a Chinese lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Summer Palace which is one of the biggest and most famous existing royal gardens in world. Well preserved, and permeating with the richest culture content, it is perhaps the best example of Chinese traditional art in garden building.
This grand structure was first built in 1750, and was used by the emperors empresses of the Qing Dynasty as a summer villa, or a garden for relaxation, and a summer palace where they could hold court and handle matters of state in summer. In 1860, it was burnt by the British-French Allied Army and was restored in 1888.
Then visit the Temple of Heaven which was the place where the Imperial Emperors worshipped and prayed for good harvest. It has a history of over 570 years during which 22 emperors had held 654 ceremonies here. There is architecture of acoustics in the Temple like “The Echo Wall” and “Triple Sound Stone”. The Temple of Heaven has assembled the essence of many subjects in ancient China: philosophy, politics, rites, astronomic, music, and in particular, art and architecture. Therefore, it has unique cultural connotations. Return to the hotel at in the afternoon.
