What to Expect
As the capital of the People’s Republic of China, Beijing has been a historic center of power, culture, and wealth for centuries. On this 6-hour tour you will visit some of the essential places in the city.

Your guide will tell you breathtaking stories about the daily life of Ming emperors in the Forbidden City, and about their prayers to Heaven as the Son of God at the Temple of Heaven.

Behind the veneer of modernity, the city of 15 million people conceals some of the most splendid relics and structures from China's imperial past. Your tour begins at Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest public square, where you will see Tiananmen Tower, Monument to the People's Heroes, the Great Hall of the People, and Chairman Mao's Mausoleum.

You will then enter the legendary Forbidden City, now known as the Imperial Palace Museum. Lying at the center of Beijing, the Forbidden City was the imperial palace for 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and stood to represent the supreme power of the emperor.

Shrouded in mystery and isolation for generations, and standing at what was believed to be the center of the universe, the city complex comprises a myriad number of courtyards and palaces all guarded by 4 exquisite watchtowers sitting at the corners of the 33-foot (10 meter) high outer wall. With roofs covered with golden glazed tile, red painted walls, and an expanse of brick-paved squares, the Forbidden City is a treasure house of cultural and historical relics.

Continue to the aptly named Temple of Heaven, dating back to the 15th-Century. Built in the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Temple served as the site of prayer, traditional ceremonies, and sacrificial rituals, and is one of Beijing’s great splendors.

The most iconic and enduring images of the city, its sacred nature and cosmological principles can be found residing in the beautiful complexity of its design.

Once inside the temple allow history to gradually come alive as you follow in the footsteps of the imperial courts of yesteryear. Your guide will breathe life into your experience as they relate the history, tales, and mysteries of the site, as well as furnishing you with details of the reasoning behind the temples form and construction.

See how these beautiful buildings served to depict a profound insight into the Chinese conception of the universe, its endless beauty, and its eternal secrets.
