From Bayahibe: Half Day Monkeyland Safari

3. From Bayahibe: Half Day Monkeyland Safari

After being picked up from your accommodation in Bayahibe, set off on your safari adventure. Begin the tour with the visit to a typical country house where you can mingle with Dominicans and learn how to live off the land and their organic products. There, have the opportunity to try roasted coffee and cocoa. Then, head over to the beautiful botanical garden, where you will learn about native plants and flowers of the island. For the next 45 minutes, enjoy a guided tour that allows you to interact in close proximity with the beautiful and friendly squirrel monkeys at Monkeyland. These charming and intelligent monkeys have been looked after by a Canadian couple with 35 years of experience working with animals, including 12 years at the Toronto Zoo teaching monkeys to trust and enjoy the company of humans. During the tour, explore 5 acres of a beautiful piece of land that the monkeys have made their home. The monkeys are completely accustomed to human contact. They come down from the trees to sit on your shoulder and eat from your hands. Beware monkeys love all things bright and interesting! Little monkeys love to pose for the cameras and probably will sit, and if allowed, see themselves in your camera. Adorable! Come share an unforgettable experience!

What people are saying about Bayahibe

Nice trip to a Caribbean island. Transfer was absolutely problem-free with a change (small to large bus or small to large boat). Crew not pushy and very friendly. You can party very well on the catamaran, but you don't have to. It won't be boring. Sufficient buffet and good selection. We recommend the pina colada made from pineapple on the island of Saona. Delicious! Beach and sea like in the catalog. The blue lagoon is the candy on this excursion. The speedboat ride wasn't too wild. In Bayahibe there are many street vendors for a last souvenir from this great day. There is a small studio / shop with souvenirs between the marina and the bus parking lot. Partly handmade. You can watch the artist at work. A hand-painted coconut magneto for a dollar! It is your own fault who does not buy there. Execution and service of all participating Dominicans excellent. When things seem chaotic ... keep calm! Great thanks!

Very nice experience. We not only saw and fed the monkies, as we learned a lot about coffee, coconut oil and cocoa. The views on the way to the monkey land os very beautiful? You can see some of the Dominican life, you can see nature, you can see beauty. U just have to be open for it and embrace it! Our guide (Junior) and driver (Manuel) were equally wonderful. Very kind, funny and helpful. They definitely love their job! Thank you for this experience!

Awesome excursion! It was about 11 hours total time but worth it. You get to spend about 3 hours on Samoa island and about an hour at the natural pool which was was stunning and We enjoyed an hour long ride back with a catamaran party. The staff was super friendly and lunch was delicious!!! Definitely one of the best excursions I’ve ever experienced!

Until there was drinks for the first time, I found it a bit long ... transfer by bus to boat, then by boat to the first stop ... over 3 hours, personally a bit too long for me without drinks at the temperatures ...

Very well organized, from pick-up time at the hotel, punctual, interactive guides, entertainment on the spectacular catamaran...lots of dancing and lots of vitamins...great day....
