Explore two of the most fascinating cities in Bari, included in the esteemed UNESCO World Heritage List on this full-day tour from Bari: the famous trulli (or Apulian stone huts with conical roofs) of Alberobello, and the old canyon town of Matera.
What to Expect
Discover two beautiful sites belonging to the famed UNESCO World Heritage List on this full-day tour through the Bari countryside: the unique commune of Alberobello and small canyon city of Matera.
Start the day with a pick-up from your desired location in Bari, including any hotel, airport, cruise ship terminal, or train station in the city. Set off for the beautiful town of Alberobello, and discover the trulli, or traditional Apulian dry stone huts with conical roofs, that the town is famous for. After a 2-hour walking tour through the town, sit down for lunch at a traditional Apulian restaurant and enjoy some of the region's wine and quality olive oil.
Then continue the tour to the canyon city of Matera, created by the erosion of the canyon over the years by the small Gravina stream. Known as "la Città Sotterranea" (or the Subterranean City), Matera is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the entire world, and its well-known historical center of Sassi has been considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1993.
