Full description
This full-day tour from Barcelona follows in the tracks of the surrealist genius Salvador Dalí, exploring the the landscape that inspired his art. You’ll visit his favorite haunts and secret hideaways, as well as the legendary Dali Museum at Figueres and his former home near Cadaqués. You’ll head from Barcelona to Figueres, where you’ll visit Dalí’s birthplace and the extraordinary museum dedicated to his work. Dalí wanted visitors to see his massive collection as a “whole,” so there are no catalogues and the work is not displayed in any organized manner. The tour continues to the beautiful coastal village of Cadaqués, famous for its whitewashed Mediterranean houses and narrow streets. With its charming bay, it is one of the most picturesque villages on the Costa Brava. What is particularly stunning is the dramatic scenery on the drive there. For lunch, you can enjoy local seafood specialties at one of the numerous terraces, or grab a sandwich and relax on the beach. You’ll soon understand why Cadaqués inspired Dalí and so many other artists. Travel up the coast to the smaller village of Port Lligat, where Dalí sought the peace and quiet that truly inspired him.  The winter schedule (September 1 to June 30) starts with a drive to Figueres, where you will spend the morning exploring the Dalí Museum. From the museum, drive to Cadaqués. After lunch at your own expense, continue exploring Cadaqués or head to Port Lligat, to visit Dali's House. The summer schedule (July 1 to August 31) leaves Figueres for Pubol Castle, once the home of Dalí and his wife Gala, located in the village of the same name. Visit the Gala Dalí House-Museum in the castle, and after lunch, venture to one of the many beautiful beach side towns that dot the Costa Brava coastline.

Our guide Gloria and driver Marcelo were brilliant. Very well organised and everything ran to a good schedule with enough time to look around the museum in Figures, lunch at Cadaques and Port Lligat. Gloria was really enthusiastic and knowledgable. She told us all about Dali, his childhood, upbringing, friendship and relationships that shaped him into the artist he became. She came into the museum explaining some pieces of art and then left us to explore. We then made our way to Cadaques where Dali lived with as a child, we have time to stop for lunch overlooking the seafront and a walk to the church. Next stop Dali’s home in Port Lligat, she came around the house with us and the guide. We had time to explore the gardens. I can’t express how well the tour is put together, didn’t feel rushed and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Beautiful scenery and places to visit.

We had a wonderful experience with our guide Gloria and driver Marcelo. Gloria was very passionate and knowledgeable about Dalí, and we learned quite a bit thanks to her! She was filled with facts and really made the museum come to life. We also loved getting to walk around Cadaques on a beautiful day! We would absolutely recommend the tour.

This is one of the trips that I have enjoyed most. They take a small group of up to 20 people. It is obviously beneficial if you are lucky enough to land a very small group. Ana, the tour guide, is very knowledgeable and takes time to explain questions in-depth. She has a genuine concern for her clients. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would recommend paying the extra 14 Euro’s to see Dali’s house.
