Overview
Save money on a combined morning walking tour of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, and spend the afternoon exploring Gaudí’s unfinished basilica of the Sagrada Família. Discover 2,000 years of history in picturesque squares, on medieval streets, and more.
What to Expect
Start this 2-part tour of Barcelona with a morning stroll around the Barri Gotic, and discover where the city started more than 2,000 years ago. Your guide will show you inspiring Gothic architecture along narrow streets, taking you on a journey from the days of the Romans to the present.

From Placa Catalunya, walk to Rambla de Canaletes at the upper end of La Rambla, and marvel at the ornate fountain. Move on to Calle Petritxol, lined with xocolaterías (hot chocolate shops) and ornamental murals. Peek at the 14th-century Church of Santa Maria del Pi in Plaça del Pi, and the tiny Church of Sant Felip Neri tucked away in a romantic corner of the Barri Gotic.

Admire the neo-Gothic façade of the Cathedral, and learn the legends of Plaça del Rei, where Columbus is said to have been welcomed back from the New World. See where the city government resides on Placa Sant Jaume, and go to the old Jewish Quarter of El Call, before strolling up La Rambla to the vibrant Boqueria Market, where mounds of colorful fruit and fragrant herbs await.

Re-group in the afternoon for a tour of the Sagrada Familia, Barcelona’s most iconic building. The architect dedicated the latter part of his life to the basilica, but died before he finished it.

Before you explore the cathedral, stroll down Passeig de Gràcia to see the whimsical façades of the Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, and get a sense of the elegant 19th-century extension of L’Eixample. On arrival at the Sagrada Familia, enjoy a full explanation of Antoni Gaudi’s most extraordinary creation.
