Pack your passport for a trip from Barcelona that takes in 3 countries in just 1 day. Enjoy coffee and a croissant for breakfast in France, have lunch and do some shopping in Andorra, and then head back to Spain, passing the famous Montserrat en route.
What to Expect
On this full-day excursion you’ll make an early start from Barcelona and soon be in the medieval Catalan village of Baga, surrounded by the rocky peaks of Cadi-Moixero National Park.
Explore Baga’s central square and medieval church before crossing the border into France in time for breakfast in the walled town of Mont-Louis. Enjoy traditional café au lait with a croissant, and then explore the town’s 17th-century fortified citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Leaving Mont-Louis, you’ll take the scenic route over the Pyrenees Alps into neighboring Andorra, to the capital Andorra la Vella. Explore the Romanesque churches and stone houses in the city’s old quarter, and enjoy lunch at a traditional Andorran restaurant.
After lunch, you can head to Andorra la Vella’s tax-free shops for bargain-priced wine and souvenirs, or hit the mountain trails around the River Madriu and visit the Romanesque church of St. Miquel d’Engolasters.
On the return drive you’ll stop in Coll de Nargo for a late-afternoon drink. Admire the Romanesque church of St. Climent and the stunning valley views before continuing on your way back to Barcelona, arriving in time for pre-dinner drinks and tapas or whatever else your evening holds.
