Bansko

We took a short ride to the hut Vihren (named after the highest peak). It is situated at the bottom of the mountain circus surrounded by some of the most spectacular peaks of Pirin. We climbed to one of the lakes and from there continued around the circus keeping the same altitude to see another lake. Great views of the peaks and the valley. It took around four hours to do that and return to the hut. There we had lunch ant the surprisingly high quality traditional Bulgarian restaurant. In the afternoon we visited the tree (Baykusheva mura), which is claimed to be the oldest in Bulgaria and then a place which is the source of several tubular springs. There the locals use to picnic. Our guide was Michail, very professional as guide and a true lover of Bulgarian mountains and their nature.
