Come along for two exhilarating days of undulating cycling through Thailand's little known wine country, just a short distance north of Bangkok. The trip takes us through vineyards, orchards and dairy farms, villages and temples, with stops at a winery.
What to Expect
Two hours north of Bangkok is a region of fertile land and rolling hills with a unique climate for growing grapes in the tropics, yielding some very good Thai wines – and an ideal place for a couple of days' cycling.
Travelling from Bangkok on our first morning, we will start at Bonya Lit temple and ride our bikes along a quiet country road, leading to gravel and dirt roads through orchards and cane fields.
Then, we will stop at Khao Yai Winery for lunch followed by a tour of the winery and some samples. Later, we will take a short ride back to the resort for a swim, to relax and watch the sunset before dinner.
On day two we do a bit of climbing, both on and off of our bicycles. We will start with a bit of uphill, passing tapioca fields to Wat Tam Tien temple and cave. Back on the bikes, take in views of the fields of sugar cane and visit a grape farm to sample their fruit and candy.
Here you will find a large Buddha at the top of 1,250 steps that you can climb for an amazing view. Then, tuck into lunch before we head back to Bangkok.
