Visit the ancient city of Ayutthaya, capital of Siam for 417 years, and one of Thailand's major tourist attractions. Stop off at Bang Pa-In, site of the Royal Summer Palace, and cruise back to Bangkok along the river.
What to Expect
06:30 – 07:15: Pick-up from hotel and transfer to Siphraya, the river city shopping complex, next to the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel.
07:30: Depart Bangkok on a luxury, air-conditioned coach with your English-speaking guide.
09:00: Arrive at Bang Pa-In, where you will visit the Summer Palace of King Rama V with its incredible mixture of Thai, Chinese, and Gothic architecture.
10:30: Arrive at Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and historic capital of Thailand. Visit Wat Mahatad, the royal monastery which served as the residence of supreme monk, and see Wat Phrasrisanphet, the largest and most important temple, also used as a residential palace. Followed by the Wihan Phramongkhon Bophit, the large bronze Buddha image was originally enshrined in the open area outside the grand palace and later enclosed by a building called Wihan.
13:15: Afternoon cruise, with onboard buffet lunch including a variety of oriental and western cuisines. Enjoy your lunch and relax while floating along the fascinating scenery on the River of Kings. The cruise will head towards Nontaburi, passing Koh Kred, before reaching Bangkok City.
15:00: Coffee will be served as you enjoy the enchanting sights along the river banks such as the colorful Royal Barges House, Thammasat University, Siriraj Hospital, The Royal Grand Palace, and the graceful Temple of Dawn.
16:00: Arrive and disembark at the River City Shopping Complex Pier. Transfer back to the hotel by air-conditioned van.
