The Floating Markets are an essential stop for most visitors to Bangkok. This full-day cycle tour combines visiting the floating markets at Damnoen Saduak and Amphawa, with a gentle ride alongside the winding waterways and countryside.
What to Expect
The tour starts with a quick visit to the Damnoen Saduak floating market, the biggest and most colorful in Thailand. Here you can discover a variety of foods, locally made products and soak up the atmosphere of this distinctively Thai experience.
We will take a longtail boat ride through a maze of canals that cut through local villages and plantations.
You will get off the boat at the floating market of Amphawa. Here you will again have the opportunity to look for food, gifts for loved ones, or perhaps even presents for yourself.
The rest of the tour continues by bicycle. Along the way you will pass temples, people, canals and orchards, but hardly any cars.
Depending on the season, you will see grapes, lychee, pomelo, guava and coconuts that are ripe for the picking. This is a fascinating area just waiting to be explored.
The temples we will visit include Wat Bang Kung, uniquely held up by a huge banyan tree. We will also visit the exceptional Wat Bang Kae Noi temple. The inside of the Wat has exquisitely carved panels depicting the story of the enlightenment of Buddha.
This is a gentle 20 mile (32 km) ride along country roads, flat canal-paths and plantation trails. The riding is at a leisurely pace and suitable for anyone. We will stop frequently at points of interest.
