What You'll Do
  • Take a hands-on Thai cooking lesson at a home in the heart of Bangkok
  • Learn family recipes passed down through generations from a local cook
  • Enjoy a delicious Thai meal that you have prepared, with dishes you won't find in restaurants
Visit a home in the heart of Bangkok for a private meal and cooking class. With your local host Pia, you’ll prepare traditional recipes during a hands-on lesson, enjoy eating what you’ve prepared, and experience a side of Thailand most visitors never see.
What to Expect
Enjoy a 4-hour private cooking class and in-home dining experience with Pia in the bustling Sukhumvit neighborhood in the heart of Bangkok. You will meet Pia at a skytrain station and walk with her to her modern apartment nearby.

In Pia’s kitchen, you’ll learn to make a central Thai and Isaan (north-eastern Thai) meal that you will enjoy together afterwards at her dining table. Learn to chop, pound, and grind ingredients as you make dishes such as mok panaeng, Pia’s experimental take on the traditional penang curry.

You can expect an exciting cooking lesson as you learn about a region of Thailand that may be unfamiliar to you. After cooking together, you’ll share a delicious meal with Pia and her warm and welcoming family (her husband and children will be present if you book a dinner or weekend experience) and hear about Pia's home and family and stories about north-eastern Thailand.

Your meal may include traditional dishes such as laarb gai (minced chicken with herbs and toasted rice), laap hua plee (roasted pork and banana flower salad), plaa pla (whole fried fish with dressing), pla yang baidong (whole fish stuffed with lemongrass and crushed salt and grilled inside a banana leaf), shrimp and green mango salad, and khao dack ngaa (sweet sticky rice stuffed with banana), a dish developed by the Pia’s mother when she was a child.

You’ll leave with new recipes, and having made new friends, and you’ll return home with lifelong memories.
