Spend a half day exploring Bangkok's Chao Phraya River and see life along the canals that spread throughout the city. We’ll also take you to Jim Thompson’s House where you’ll learn about Thai silk and traditional Thai architecture.
What to Expect
Your private tour guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel or guest house in Bangkok and you’ll head to the Chao Phraya River where you’ll take a long-tailed speed boat to explore the River and some of the canals that run through the city. The canal tour is a great way to see the typical way of life for many local residents.
The boat will also take you to the Temple of Dawn, where you’ll enjoy spectacular river views. Known locally as Wat Chaeng, this temple is situated on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. It is said that after King Taksin fought his way out of Ayutthaya, besieged by the Burmese army at the time, he arrived at this temple site as dawn was breaking.
After our canal tour, we’ll visit Jim Thompson's House. This Thai-style house is also a museum dedicated to the man who is credited with reviving the Thai silk industry. The house is actually a complex of 6 traditional Thai-style houses that have been re-assembled on this Bangkok site. Construction was completed in 1959.
