Bangkok’s history began more than 200 years ago and over time, the city has become a very modern capital. However, remains of the city's past are still evident, and a guide will show you them.
What to Expect
Your guide and driver will meet you in your hotel lobby at around 08:00. The guide will explain the layout of Bangkok's old city center in relation to the city today, and the tour will include a stop at Wat Saket (Golden Mountain), which towers high above Ratanakosin Island. This area still bears many signs of the former glory of the ancient Kingdom of Siam. A great panoramic view awaits you at the top.
You will continue by local transport to an original Khmer community at Baan Bart; once a thriving part of Bangkok, this has retained its charm and is now considered one of the leading producers of Baat (alms bowls for monks). Within walking distance, the Wat Suthat and the Giang Swing are among important historical sites.
After lunch at a local restaurant, the tour continues to Wat Rajbophit, to see the beautiful temple hall decorated with Benjarong wares. This style of ceramics continues to play an important part in preserving arts and culture in houses and establishments around Thailand. The last stop is the Suan Pakkad Palace Museum, the former private residence of the Royal Highnesses Prince and Princess Chumbhot of Nagara Svarga, to see the collection of antiquities. Your guide and driver will bring you back to your hotel at around 15:00.
