What to Expect
Early morning around 6:15 am, your chauffeur will pick you up from your Bangalore hotel. Upon arrival in Mysore meet and greet with your local guide. Mysore is known as the city of palaces. Visit the Mysore Royal palace, located in the heart of the city. It is also known as Amba vilas palace and was the residence of Wodeyer Maharaja of Mysore. A fine example of Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, the palace has been converted into a museum that exhibits souvenirs, paintings, royal costumes and other items, which were once possessed by the Wodeyars. After the visit enjoy lunch in a local restaurant with a fixed menu.
After lunch drive to Chamundeshwari Temple. It is located on the top of Chamundi Hills about 13 km from the palace city of Mysore. The temple has a seven storey tall Gopura decorated with intricate carvings. The deity of the goddess is said to be made of gold and the temple doors of silver. The temple was named after Chamundeshwari or Durga, the fierce form of Shakti, a tutelary deity held in reverence for centuries by Mysore Maharajas. After this visit, go back to Mysore and do not forget to see the Mysore city view from Chamundi Hill. While going back to Bangalore en route Visit Philomena's church. The St. Philomena’s Cathedral is located on the Ashoka road Mysore Is an Roman Catholic church and is the most imposing and attractive structure. After this visit you will be driven back to Bangalore.
