What to Expect
Drive from Avignon to Aix en Provence in a comfortable 8-seater air-conditioned minibus. Once in Aix, stroll in the 17th and 18th-century streets and admire the elegant facades of the private mansions which bear witness to the prestigious past of the city.
French cuisine has been declared a world intangible heritage by UNESCO and the city of Aix is also proud of its local speciality Les Calissons. Find out about the legend of this traditional French candy and taste some home-made pieces in a bakery.
Continue towards Moustiers-Sainte Marie passing across the Plateau of Valensole: from June 10th to July 20th a photo stop will be organized to take pictures of the blue-striped lavender fields.
In Moustiers-Sainte Marie immerse yourself in the Provencal scents, the colors, and the sunlight which is present 300 days a year. Here you will find easy living and authenticity. Moustiers Sainte-Marie is known all over the world for its refined ceramics. They are created from three essential elements : water, earth and wood. Meet a local artisan in his earthenware workshop for a presentation of the production stages.
You will be back on the road for an extraordinary drive in the Verdon River Canyon famous for the limestone walls which are several hundred meters high. The river's striking turquoise colour is connected to glacial sources and the rock minerals suspended in the water. The river flows into the artificial lake of Sainte-Croix de Verdon created by a dam in 1974. Stop in the village of Sainte-Croix de Verdon and walk on the beach or take a bath in the bright turquoise water before driving back to Avignon.
