From Amsterdam: Day trip to Brussels & Atomium

8. From Amsterdam: Day trip to Brussels & Atomium

Discover the most important parts of Brussels in just one day on this guided tour. Get picked up in Amsterdam early in the morning and head towards the quintessential European economic capital. Before delving into the heart of the city, make a stop at one of its iconic symbols: the Atomium. Did you know it's an enlarged iron atom 165 billion times? Just as many times as you'll want to return to Brussels after this excursion! By the way, are you familiar with Tintin? Welcome to his home! Walking through the city is like enjoying an open-air museum with several murals dedicated to this famous character. And speaking of children... Do you know the story of the little peeing boy? We're clearly talking about Manneken Pis! Far from what you may interpret by seeing him urinate in a fountain, it represents the free spirit of the inhabitants of the Belgian capital. He even has a wardrobe... see how he's dressed that day. Witness the incredible Grand Place, worthy of its name, and the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula, the city's most valuable temple. Learn about what mysteries the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament holds. Also, pass by its most representative buildings: the Brussels Stock Exchange and the Royal Galleries, which showcase the city's power. These two 19th-century buildings, despite serving different purposes, will leave you speechless. There will be many more surprises, however, you'll also have free time to enjoy some moments on your own, getting lost in its streets. Your guide will recommend a few places for you to have that long-awaited beer, taste their famous chocolate, enjoy their traditional French fries, or indulge in a delicious Belgian waffle. In the end, return to the bus to head back to Amsterdam with a new destination in your backpack, a few anecdotes, and most likely, a full belly.

Overall rating

based on 5,326 reviews

Best option to explore the city and famous points when you have very minimal time to spend. Both red and blue line covers most of the popular points of Brussels. We took a single day pass and just travelled through as we just had few hours to spare. But would recommend a 2 day pass for those who wants to spend time on each of the attractions. Audio guide could have been slightly better, its hard to identify points based on the commentary on audio guide.

Learnt a lot. Mark was very knowledgeable and made the trip very interesting. A lot of walking though! Make sure you wear comfortable shoes. It was definitely worth it. We had to share a coach with the Spanish tour and sit through some Spanish explanations too but once we got to the POIs, the group broke in two. I liked that the English group was smaller.

There are no exhibitions at two levels except the light n sound ( which is no doubt wonderful), but a bit of exhibition was expected. Also at the ticket office toilet was paid one. If i pay for atomium ticket already, why do i need to pay for toilet again!! Toilet should be free everywhere in atomium.

Bruno, the tour guide, was very hard working and polite. He gave us a lot of information. The driver was good too. Overall a very good value for money.

Sergio was phenomenal! Engaging and very informed aswell as happy to be asked lots of questions! 100% recommend this tour with him
