Climbing Toubkal was an experience I’ll never forget! Our guides Brahmin and Nordin, and cook were brilliant, friendly, hardworking and well organised. They helped us up to the summit just in time for the most beautiful sunrise overlooking the crisp snowy Atlas. You can hire crampons at the refuge and lots of gear in Imlil including head torches etc. if required. It is a tough trek and some in our group suffered altitude sickness but if you are debating whether or not to do it, then just book!
I had the 2 day trek. My guide was Hassan Badi. He made my experience much more enjoyable. He was paying attention on what I needed and he was always checking if I was ok. I found myself to be the only one in the tour but I didn’t mind it at all! Actually was better as I felt me and Hassan could take our time and he walked at my pace at all time. There are always plenty of people on the hike and at the refuge and I talked to others during dinner and lunch! We also had some unexpected snow and Hassan was very helpful in guiding me through the best route despite the challenge! For the refuge the accommodations is basic but has all you need. Make sure you bring your sleeping bag, there are blankets but they might not be available. Also bring your passport for the police control and definitely bring heat torch for an early start. Gloves as a must and warm clothes for the top as it gets very cold! The food was excellent and the transport back and for was good! I highly recommend!
