What to Expect
This private guided 6-hour shore excursion tour of Athens is a favorite with Biblical students, taking you on a journey of the sights associated with the Apostle Paul sermons given during his missionary journey of 49-52 AD, and the most popular sights of Athens.f Athens
You will visit theworld famous crown jewel of Athens, the Acropolis, and its many buildings. Explore the Temple of Nike, the Temple of Athena, the Propylaea, and the Erechtheion, the most holy site of the Acropolis. Archaeologous licensed guides are educated in Greek and Byzantine history, religion, archaeology and art, and will be a treasure trove of fascinating information.
Next a visit the Ancient Agora, where Apostle Paul spoke to the Epicureans and Stoic Philosophers, and where Socrates taught and democracy was founded. You’ll see the best-preserved temple of antiquity, the Temple of Hephaestus, built in 460-415 BC. Continue to the Stoa of Attalos, now reconstructed to house a fascinating museum.
Then, lunch and a kaleidosceope of colors, characters, history, Byzantine churches, cafes, and shops galor await you in the famed "Neighbrohood of the Gods," Plaka. Enjoy some real Greek food, the original Mediterranean diet. Then on to Mars Hill, where Apostle Paul delivered his historic sermon about the “Unknown God.”
