Discover the area of Argolis during a unique one-day experience filled with beautiful landscapes and archaeological adventures. Upgrade your tour to include a private guided tour with a licensed English-speaking guide, authorized to enter all the archaeological sites with you, or alternatively explore the sites at your own pace without a guide. Start the tour with pick up from your hotel in Athens where you will meet your driver and set off on your full-day tour. First, stop at Corinth Canal, which connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. Then, continue by car towards the archaeological site of Mycenae, the prehistoric kingdom of mythical Agamemnon who was famous for leading the Greeks in the reputed Trojan War. In Mycenae, admire the famous Lions’ Gate and explore the site of a royal set of graves where golden masks, weapons, cups, and crowns were discovered. Finally, follow the route uphill towards the ruins of the palace and the underground cistern, before taking an optional look at the local museum collection. Complete your visit at the vaulted tomb of Agamemnon. Next, drive through the plains and orange groves of Argos towards the charming town of Nafplio. Admire the neoclassical buildings during a stroll along the picturesque cobbled streets. Then, explore the medieval quarter and port which offers an impeccable view of the sea and the small castle of Bourtzi. Find some ideal choices of restaurants here for a lunch break. After this, visit the Theater of Epidaurus, which is situated about 30 minutes from Nafplio. It is the largest and best-preserved ancient theater in Greece, built near an area that functioned as a sanctuary and a healing center dedicated to the Greek god of medicine Asclepius. Finally, return back to Athens following a scenic route with an astonishing view of the Aegean Sea.
