Full description
Join a small group at the Acropolis metro station for a more interactive and personal experience. Get to know your local guide who has a professional licence as she goes over the day's itinerary. Start your walk right away to discover Acropolis which the most popular monument in Athens. Located in the center of Athens, Acropolis is on an elevation. It is next to the Plaka neighborhood which is just south of the Agora.  The Acropolis is easily the most popular monument in Athens so you get a very detailed tour including the Erechtheion, the temple of Athena Nike, the Propylaia and of course the Parthenon. Look at how the rock of the Acropolis itself serves as a reference point for the modern development of Athens. Enjoy the Acropolis and its complimentary sites over wonderful views over Athens. See the Acropolis Museum to compliment the tour. Your guide organizes timing of the museum either before or after the Acropolis proper considering the season and the crowds.  Acropolis Museum is stunning, to say the least. Our small group tour in Athens includes the treasures of the ancient Greek civilization and the museum building itself is worth discovering. Its unique design has incorporated the excavations which are visible under stunning glass floors. Today, the Acropolis Museum houses original pieces from the temples in Acropolis, protecting them from deterioration while also giving their historical context. Learn about the Elgin Marbles in the Parthenon Gallery; the famous marble frieze recreated with both original marble and casts of those pieces. The Archaic Gallery has statues which pre-date the Acropolis itself. After around three hours, your tour concludes back at the original start point.

We really were able to get so much more out of the experience of visiting the Acropolis and Museum with a guide than we would have been able to on our own. As it turned out, my husband and I were the only participants on that particular tour, and our guide was an absolute fountain of knowledge. She truly made our time there very informative and enjoyable!

They wanted to move us from our originally booked time slot. We agreed to go earlier. Still the tour was good but we did not have enough time at the Acropolis to just wander and see all there is to see post the tour. That was a little disappointing. The guide was good, and made sense to do the museum first then the acropolis. Just needed more time at the Acropolis. Old ladies starting ringing a bell and telling us - we are closed, you have to leave.

Excellent tour with only 8 in our group. Our local guide Marilena was extremely knowledgeable sharing pertinent information and happily answering any questions. Tour also included guided tour of museum pointing out significant displays. Overall well worth the cost and time spent. Highly recommended! On a side note though tour time was changed from afternoon to morning on short notice. Text received night before. Not a problem for us but could be for some.
