Full description

Meet your licensed tour guide, an experienced archaeologist, and then start your unique combination of a tour. Enter from the south slope of the acropolis and set off on your leisurely walking tour of some of the world’s finest monuments.

Along the way, listen as your guide shares knowledgeable insight into the citadel’s ruins including excavation details. Visit the Theater of Dionysus, an amphitheater that is arguably the birthplace of performing arts.

Perch yourself on a stone seat to imagine the sights and sounds experienced by ancient theatergoers who came to watch plays by Greek writers Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides.

Also, pass the Odeon of Herodes Atticus; the theater is still used today during the Athens Festival from May to October. Find peace and quiet at an Asclepius, a healing temple that honored the god of medicine Asclepius, before the Parthenon.

Wander around the temple to learn about how it was constructed for the goddess Athena. Once you familiarize yourself with the site's classical architecture, head indoors to the New Acropolis Museum for a brief break and refreshments (at own expense) in the cafe.

Ranked one of the top 5 museums in the world, the New Acropolis Museum boasts collections of statues and other relics of everyday life in several galleries. In the Gallery of the Slopes of the Acropolis, the glass floor occasionally reveals an archaeological excavation site.

We had Zeta as a guide and she was amazing - really the best! She was very well informed about all the history of the acropolis and fun facts too. She had humour and was very considerate of the fact we had children and it was hot. You can tell she used to be a teacher as she was very engaging and enthusiastic to share her knowledge for our learning. Couldn’t recommend her and the team highly enough. Also, Costas in the main office was extremely helpful and informative too, fantastic customer service.

We had a great time on this walking tour of the Acropolis + Acropolis Museum. Our guide, Dorina, was knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and enthusiastic with our small group of about 12. It was a hot day (as it will be on most summer days in Athens) but she carefully maximized time in the shady parts of the territory to keep us as cool as possible. The use of a microphone/headset/earbud system was sooooo helpful and made the experience so much nicer than other tours I’ve been on. I didn’t feel the need to jockey for position near the guide so that I could hear the details since they were comfortably arriving in my ear as long as we were anywhere nearby. Lovely. The museum part of the tour was a nice addition and Dorina’s knowledge of the offerings and highlights allowed us to maximize our time before the onslaught of the cruise ship groups arrived. All in all, I highly recommend the use of this company as a great way to take in the deep culture of the Acropolis.

My husband and I had a great time with Effie. She explained everything so well and clearly loves her job and the history. She really helped make the experience better by leading us away from crowds and in shade whenever possible. We did several group experiences and this was by far our favorite. Highly recommend to go to the acropolis and even the museum with a guide.
