Full description
Begin your Acropolis private tour with a visit to the Temple of Olympian Zeus, dedicated to the father of the gods of Olympus. The Arch of Hadrian is also close by, built to celebrate the arrival of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in Athens.
Stop at the Areopagus and learn about its history and why it serves as a typical example of an etiological myth. (a myth that exists to justify a cause).
A highlight of the tour is a visit to the magnificent Acropolis, situated on a flat-topped rock that rises 150 meters above sea level. Home to the Parthenon, generally considered the zenith of the Doric order and regarded as an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece, Athenian Democracy and western civilization, it is by far the most important surviving building of Classical Greece.
After a short stop to admire the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, you’ll head to the new Acropolis Museum, built to house every artifact discovered around the Acropolis, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. With a collection of nearly 4,000 objects, the museum is rated as one of the top museums in the world.
The tour concludes at the Acropolis Metro station.
