Enjoy a full-day tour from Aswan that takes you to the Temple of Kom Ombo, overlooking the Nile River. Cross the river to Edfu, where you’ll ride by horse carriage to visit the majestic temple dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus.
What to Expect
A tour representative will meet you at your hotel or cruise ship in Aswan and take you on an exciting full-day tour to the temple sites of Kom Ombo and Edfu.
Kom Ombo differs from other temples in that it features a double entrance. Each of the entrances is dedicated to a divinity: Haroeris with his falcon head and Sobek with his crocodile head. The temple was built to honor Sobek, the god of fertility and creator of the world, and Haroeris, or the ancient falcon-headed Horus.
You’ll then cross the Nile to Edfu, where you’ll be transferred by a horse carriage to the majestic temple dedicated to Horus. This is considered by most to be the best-preserved cult temple in Egypt.
According to Egyptian myth, Edfu was the place where the god Horus killed Seth to revenge the murder of his father Osiris.
