Home to a true Renaissance man, Arezzo's Casa Vasari holds a vast collection of works created by Giorgio Vasari to express his many passions and artistic virtuosity. The result is an artistic monument to his own accomplishments.
What to Expect
The painter, architect, art critic and general Renaissance impresario, Giorgio Vasari, designed and decorated a home for himself in Arezzo. He painted profusely throughout his life, and his house is testimony to this.
Today Casa Vasari has been converted into a very peaceful museum dedicated to this flamboyant personality.
The extensively decorated rooms have survived largely unchanged since his lifetime. Every room has a frescoed ceiling and his paintings are displayed on walls throughout the house. Vibrant portrait-frescoes by Michelangelo and del Sarto are even featured on some of its walls.
