Amsterdam: Private Red Light District and Food Tour

I had already done this walkabout years before on my own and the person I was meant to go with this time pulled out at the last minute. And as it happened it turned out that it was only the 2 of us booked on the trip. So, I ended up getting a private tour. The guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Amsterdam in general as well as the specific area and could speak 5 languages. It was much more interesting hearing about the little roads and seeing places one would normally walk right past if not highlighted by the guide. He took me to little off the main road bars and eateries that looked like nothing from the outside but were typical of the culture, and titbits of food were delicious. But be aware, they are titbits. It is not enough food to count as a substitute for dinner unless you have a small appetite. Take this into account when considering the price of this tour with food. In general though, recommended!

My friend and I cannot recommend this tour enough! Katherine is incredible. She is friendly, charming and has the most fascinating facts about Amsterdam and it’s red light district. She was so informative and is a wonderful story teller. My friend and I quickly felt comfortable and like Katherine was one of our group. If you come to Amsterdam you must book this tour!! This was a fantastic tour! We are a family of 4 from Toronto, Canada, and Craig was our guide. We have two kids, 14 and 11, and they a lot of questions about the red light district. We decided a tour and education were the way to go. Craig handled the subject matter in a totally age appropriate manner while still making it entertaining and not speaking down to our kids at all. We all loved the tour and Craig. Highly recommend for families not afraid of a little controversy.
