Enjoy a 6-hour private tour of the medieval Muiderslot Castle on the former Zuiderzee, and continue to Naarden Fortress in the Gool region of North Holland. Take an optional tour of the Fortress Museum and admire a former bastion of Turfpoort.
What to Expect
Travel back in time to explore 2 historic monuments of North Holland on a private day trip from Amsterdam.
Following a pick-up from your hotel (or other location of choice) in Amsterdam, drive to Muiderslot Castle, now a national museum. The beautifully preserved fortress dates back to the Middle Ages, and is located near the mouth of the Vecht River. Upon arrival, take a complete tour of the castle to get an insight into Dutch history. Your castle tour includes access to the bedrooms, kitchens, and armory, all restored to their 17th-century glory.
Continue to the star-shaped Naarden Fortress, replete with town wall and moat, and walk in the footsteps of kings and emperors, including Napoleon Bonaparte. If you wish, you can visit the nearby Fortress Museum in the Turfpoort Bastion, one of the 6 bastions that give the walled city its distinctive star shape.
After some free time exploring at leisure, your driver will transfer you back to Amsterdam, and drop you off at your hotel, or other location of choice.
