Full description

Find out more about Anne Frank on a small-group or private guided walking tour of Amsterdam, led by an expert guide. Discover the city’s centuries-old Jewish Quarter in a small group setting while your guide weaves in anecdotes about Anne Frank's life and World War II. You will hear all about Anne Frank’s family dynamics, their move from Germany, their time in hiding, and her father’s life after the war. Start the tour outside the Portuguese Synagogue, a 17th-century Sephardic construction that still functions as a synagogue today. Find out about the background of the original Jewish neighborhood and how it developed over the centuries. Your guide will share stories of Anne Frank’s love of writing, the conditions she lived through in 1930s and 1940s Amsterdam, and how her diary became so famous. You will also hear about the Dutch Resistance during the Second World War and see where secret hiding places were located. Over the course of the tour, you will walk by the Jewish Historical Museum, stop at the Auschwitz Monument and see the outside of the Anne Frank House façade. Finish the tour with a small surprise at a local Dutch cafe.

Libby, Our Tour Guide, was extremely knowledgeable, authentic, kind and funny in her delivery of Amsterdam’s history during WWII and How it directly Affected The Dutch and the Jewish Jews. It was Nice to Hear her Honor and Educate Us on Anne Frank’s journey, along with that of her family. Libby’s Studies in History Aid in her knowledge & Tour. It’s totally Worth 2 hours of your Amsterdam History Visit! Thanks, Libby, France and Crew! Jordan B

This was one of the best tours we did during our month long visit to Europe. Our guide Manuel went above and beyond, even going a little past the scheduled end of the tour to make sure we saw everything. He was very knowledgeable and engaging, keeping us on our toes by asking us questions. He didn’t seem rehearsed at all and the fact that he had photos to show us really fleshed out the tour. The only negative is that the name of the tour is a bit misleading since it says that it includes Anne Frank House but it’s just the outside. We had seen the fine print so knew what to expect but some people could miss it and be disappointed. The guide’s clipboard said “WWII through the eyes of Anne Frank” which I think would be a way better and more accurate name for the tour. All in all, an amazing tour with an amazing guide which we highly recommend to anyone interested in the history of Amsterdam, the Holocaust, or Anne Frank.

Very informative and interesting! We really enjoyed the walking tour and learned a lot about Holland's history through WWII. Manuel, our guide, was fun and knowledgeable and took his time to go through each part of the tour and answer questions. On a sidenote it might be relevant to some potential visitors to know that most of the walking takes place in the second hour of the tour and, at least in our case, we had to rush a little bit by the end to get to the last few stops. We always stopped when the group was getting dispersed though, and Manual used each stop to tell us something interesting so it did not make an impact on the tour as such :)
