Full description
Discover the delicate taste of Indonesia's refined cuisine guided by a local hobby-chef with Indonesian roots. Learn how to use and combine essential ingredients and enjoy cooking signature dishes. Prepare your taste buds for a mouthwatering experience whilst learning about Dutch-Indonesian history.

After meeting at the square in front of Cafe De Drie Fleschjes, one of the oldest pubs in Amsterdam (established in 1650), you will learn more about the history of this specific neighborhood behind Amsterdam's Dam Square, Royal Palace, and New Church. Your experience will be located in one of the secret alleys that can be found all over the center of Amsterdam. Once there you can immerse yourself in the history of 17th-century Amsterdam whilst learning about the historical significance of this particular location.

Once having entered the cooking workshop location you will be welcomed by a hospitable host to his modern apartment and kitchen. Essential ingredients of Indonesian cuisine are displayed at the kitchen table, which will allow you to take in the scent of oriental herbs and spices when entering.

Whilst enjoying a refreshing drink you will learn briefly about Dutch-Indonesian history and the major influence that Indonesian cuisine has had on Dutch food culture. Next up, you'll learn about how to use specific combinations of ingredients to create signature flavors, and will be provided a personalized menu based on your dietary preferences.

After learning about the ingredients, you will experience how to combine them step by step to prepare a variety of delicious tasteful Indonesian dishes. A fundamental part of Indonesian cooking is creating specific flavor combinations, but tasting mixtures and pastes and adjusting ingredients can be challenging. To do so you will learn how to recognize what ingredient or flavor should be added in order to make future cooking easier.

Last but not least, dinner will be served, so prepare yourself for a mouthwatering experience. Following your lovely dinner, you will receive recipes of the dishes which will allow you to re-create them at home.
