Petra is the biggest attraction in Jordan and chosen to be the new seventh wonder of the world! This tour explore the historic city by horseback, visiting such fascinating places as the Royal Tombs, the Treasury and many more.
What to Expect
This unique day excursion provides an exciting introduction to the ancient city of Petra. This historically significant and fascinating city was recently chosen to be the new seventh wonder of the world. Petra was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and laid the foundations of a major commercial empire that extended far into Syria.
The tour begins with our representative picking you up from your hotel in Amman. We will then drive towards the rose red city of Petra, now the single biggest attraction of Jordan.
Upon arrival you will begin the trip on horseback to the canyon and see what was once the grand caravan entrance to the city, the so-called Siq. Leaving the horses behind, we will then travel on foot to what some describe as the most beautiful monument of all, the Treasury, or Al Khazneh, carved completely out of the canyon’s sandstone rock face. Among other monuments you will see are the Street of Facades, the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh’s Castle.
