What People Are Saying About Altes Museum
Thinking we might have more time to visit some of Berlin's fabulous museums we purchased the 3-day museum pass ($27). Because there was so much other stuff to do, however, we only used the pass once. The pass doesn't allow you to acquire timed tickets (necessary to avoid lines at museums like The Pergamon) and is not good at all museums (like the outstanding museum at "Check-point Charlie"). So, if you're only spending a couple of days in Berlin, don't bother. Buy the 2-day hop on/hop off bus tour with one-hour River Spree boat cruise instead.)
My friends and I used the pass only for 2 days, since we continued traveling around. But even for the 2 days we had it was well worth it.
We were a family with 2 children(11,14) and I think it was worth the money .We pretty much went with public transport in Berlin and Potsdam .A one time I used to have a discount on another museum where we paid 21 euros instead of 14 euros !!
We bought the Berlin Card since we needed to use the public transportation during our three-day stay in Berlin. It also give free admission to all the museums we were interested in.
Great value and made using all forms of public transport very easy. Use the 100 or 200 bus as a "free" alternative to the tourist hop on-hop off with use of your card. By purchasing in advance, I was able to collect and validate my ticket via the tourist office at the Airport and use the pass straight away for my onward travel into the city. DDR museum was very interesting as is the Technical Museum. Just wish I had more time to visit the other interesting museums in this fantastic city.
