You’ll visit the Roman Kom el Shoqafa, hewn from living rock, and Pompey’s Pillar, the largest memorial column in Egypt.
See the Citadel of Qaitbay and the reconstructed Alexandria library as well. As it was historically, the library today is a great cultural and scientific center, with vast collections on literature, civilization, the sciences, and the arts that attract scholars from around the world.
Stop to see the Square of Mosques and El-Montazah Palace and Gardens. The palace was built by Abbas Helmy Pasha II, the last khedive of Egypt.
At some point you’ll stop for your lunch and you’ll have time for shopping if you like. You’ll return to the ship late in the afternoon.
Please note that you can substitute a visit to the Church of St. Catharine of Alexandria for one of the other sites on the itinerary. The same is true with the Judan Halevi synagogue.
