Explore the flavors of Apulia and experience life as a local farmer on a 4-hour food tour of Alberobello. Meet a local family to experience the agricultural traditions and lifestyle, and admire the famous conical-roofed trulli houses of the region.
What to Expect
Enjoy a morning walking tour of Alberobello, capital of the legendary trulli houses of Puglia, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. The trulli are picturesque dry stone houses with cone-shaped roofs that take their names from the Greek word for "cupola."
You will start by exploring the interior of an old trulli in Alberobello. Then, from Terrazzino Belvedere, admire up to 1,000 trulli of the Rione Monti. Continue to the central Aia Piccola district, where another 400 trulli are located, many of them still inhabited.
Continue to the scenic Puglian countryside to spend the rest of the day as a farmer. After a breakfast of biological produce with the local farmers at the masseria, you will harvest seasonal fruits and vegetables, take care of farm animals, and learn how to clean the stables.
A cooking class with the wife of the farmer follows, ending with a deliciuous lunch with the family to experience Puglian farming life up-close-and-personal.
