Full description
You'll begin at 8:30AM, as your guide meets you in front of the Avlabari Metro Station. From there it will take roughly an hour to get to the border, with crossing the border taking around 40 minutes. The first sight of the tour will be the Akhtala Monastery, a church from the 13th century which contains beautiful frescoes and is surrounded by copper smelting caves as well as a copper smelting factory. The second destination of the tour is the Haghpat Monastery, which is located in Haghpat Village and is a UNESCO-listed site. It is one of the most beautiful medieval masterpieces in Armenia, and one can't help but think that God's hand played a part in building such an incredible construction. You will then have 2 options for lunch, which can be organized at a local family's home or at a restaurant. Following lunch you'll make 3 stops on your way to visit the second UNESCO Heritage Site, Sanahin. The first will be a 13th-century bridge, the second for a Debed canyon with astonishing views, and the third for the Mikoyan Brothers' museum, where an original aircraft (MiG 21) will surprise you. You will finally travel back through the border to Tbilisi, where you will arrive at approximately 8:00PM.

This was a great tour that exceeded my expectations. Nika (guide) and Misho (driver) were wonderful. Nika spoke excellent English and was very entertaining and knowledgeable of all of the sites we visited. Misha was a superb driver, successfully minimizing the "Armenian massage" effects of the rough road surfaces and potholes. The tour is a very interesting mix of historic monasteries, decayed and grim industrial landscape, spectacular natural mountain/canyon landscapes and excellent food. Highly recommended and great value.

Wonderful tour in northern Armenia! You feel like you have been transported back to the Soviet times. The north impresses above all with its nature and the large canyon. The churches and monasteries are very beautiful, each different, if only because of the religious differences. It was a beautiful day !

Good enough tour to experience some part of Armenia in a day. A valuable, different kind of experience. Weather a bit windy in winter. Had a cozy transport, kind driver (thanks Misha!) wise tour guide aka attentive guardian from border to border (thanks Georgi!)... Totally safe for solo female traveler. *Booked for a small group tour but I was the only one signed up :)
