  • San Francisco: Beyond the Painted Ladies Walking Tour

    1. San Francisco: Beyond the Painted Ladies Walking Tour

Your day begins at Lafayette Park, where you’ll meet your small group of 20 people and take in a slew of different Victorian mansions from the outside, including the famous (and jaw-dropping) Spreckels mansion. Get special access to a privately-owned Victorian mansion that has been lovingly restored and features a private collection of Victorian artifacts and knick-knacks. The tour, which is guided by the home’s owner, is completely exclusive and the experience of a lifetime for any lover of Victoriana. Your final stop is the famous Alamo Square, home to the “Painted Ladies” which you will recognize from television and postcards. Approaching from the very best viewpoint, you’ll be able to take your own postcard-perfect...

Ted, our guide, was very helpful and always ensured we were comfortable with the walking up hills. He gave us various options for the route to view the wonderful houses. Ted’s knowledge was vast on San Francisco, as well as the architecture and history of the many houses we visited.

Your guide will collect you from your San Francisco Downtown hotel for this 3.5-hour tour. Visit the Beaux Arts style Civic Center and the famous Opera House. The customer service was fabulous! We booked the night before and didn't realize we had to call to confirm the pickup location. We did so the next morning and even though they didn't have us on a list, they got us on a van. The tour was in English and Italian which was PERFECT! We're Italian but I don't speak it, so it was an added bonus. Torston was such a great guide. I would tour with him again!! Well worth the money!

Or, choose the premium hop-on, hop-off ticket option...

Our bus commentator (not on every bus) was hilarious and informative. When we were on a bus without the live person, the recorded info was great to listen to as well. Doing the combo tour let us see alcatraz when tickets were sold out everywhere! Alcatraz was also a welcome surprise. So much cooler than anticipated. We listened to the audio and hopped back on the boat. Took about 1 hour. We were cramming our days so didn't have much more time to spend than that, but definitely worthwhile!
