What to Expect
Take an exciting 10-day trek deep into the mountains of Ethiopia for an adventure of a lifetime. During your days you will travel off the beaten track through fields of barley and up to the heights of the mountains.

As you climb up mountains ranging from 11,000 feet to more than 14,500 feet (3,040 - 4070m), you will be greeted with spectacular views, challenging hikes, and unique wildlife around every turn.

Your expert guides will porter your gear from one camp to the next, and you will arrive in camp each night for some relaxation and fun with your new friends. It is an Ethiopian adventure that you will remember for the rest of your life. The tour is designed to make sure you're always around for the traditional market days and align with National Holidays and Special Ceremonies.

Day 1
Today you arrive in Addis and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours.

Day 2
In Addis you will take a city tour by flight, followed by a road tour to acquaint you with your surroundings. Tonight you'll stay at the Simien Lodge.

Day 3
Travel from Sankaber to Gich in an off-road vehicle for 1.5 hours. During your trip, you will climb in altitude and pass beautiful fields of barley before beginning a 5-6 hour trek into the mists. The vegetation here brings you through the woods, through arboreal heather, giant lobelias and colonies of "Gelada" baboons who wander up to you with no fear. Camp tonight at Gich.

Day 4
Trek for 7 hours uphill to the summit of Imet-Gogo (12,880ft / 3,926m). Afterwards hike down and climb again to the peak of Enatye (13,350ft / 4,070m). The walk along the rim of the precipices will give you spectacular views of the Waliya, the ibex of the Simien Mountains. Camp tonight in Chenek, directly by the stream.

Day 5
Another long hike awaits you (7-8 hours) as you wander over fields planted with giant lobelias. There is a steep climb up to Bwahit (14,557 ft / 4,437m) before descending to Mizma (11,150ft / 3,400m). You make camp here.

Day 6
Climb the highest mountain in Ethiopia, the Ras Dajen. At 14,800ft (4,513m) it's a challenging 8 hour hike, but the view at the top makes it all worth it. Snap some pictures of the vista before heading down to make camp.

Day 7
You return to Chenek camp by a different route (6 hours) that is a nice respite from the more difficult climbs of the prior days. Tonight, you'll party with your porters and guides with song and dance. There's a local "Talla" to drink, made from fermented barley.

Day 8
Transfer by car from Chenek to Lalibela where you stay overnight in a hotel.

Day 9
Enjoy a city tour of Lalibela to check out the rock-hewn churches, often considered the 8th wonder of the world. Tonight you will stay in the hotel at Lalibela.

Day 10
Another visit to the Rock-hewn Churches, then you will hop in a plane for a flight back to Addis. Tonight you can enjoy a farewell dinner with your new friends at a traditional restaurant with traditional music.
