Full description
Take in the highlights of the Vatican Museums, from the Sistine Chapel to lesser-known gems of the collection. Skip the ticket lines and enter the museums to visit the Hall of Maps, the Pinecone Courtyard, the Gallery of Tapestries, the Gallery of Candelabra and the incredible Raphael Rooms. A definite highlight of your visit is the Sistine Chapel. Take some time to admire the details you have heard about, including Michelangelo’s boneless self-portrait, in which he expresses to the world that he would rather be skinned alive than paint the Sistine Chapel again! As incredible as his work is, you’ll appreciate it even more up close and after you’ve seen what it takes to create a fresco. The ticket includes a Rome city audio guide with over 50 points of interest in Rome. After the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel visit, continue your experience around Rome with a self guided tour. The staff on site will guide you in configuring the application on your smartphone and will give you all the information you should need.

So much to see. In an odd way we were glad we went during Covid as in 'normal times' we suspect so many Rome sights would be too busy to gain the best benefit of a visit. This was definitely one of those. It was still busy and at times quite large groups of people were very close, although all were wearing masks. Having said that it was an amazing place to visit.

We opted to upgrade to the audio guide and we would highly recommend that. You can do that once you’re there. The museum has great information and take a lot of time. The Sistine Chapel was off the charts! No pictures allowed in there and also be aware of the dress code. It’s a holy place and silence is a must. The Tourist station you check in at is a pink house opposite side of the museum.

This was a great tour. The guide was knowledgeable but it was rushed because of everything we were trying to see. I wish it was a bit longer and that we could have looked around more. The guide knew what she was talking about and she did a great job. I just wish it was a bit longer so that we could have seen more!!
