  • Old Cairo and Khan El Khalili Bazaar: Private Half-Day Tour

    1. Old Cairo and Khan El Khalili Bazaar: Private Half-Day Tour

Spend a half day seeing important cultural and historical sites in Cairo when you travel to Old Cairo and the Khan El Khalili Bazaar. The bazaar is one of the most famous and oldest bazaars in all of the Middle East, dating back to 1382. After spending time walking around the bazaar or shopping, continue to Old Cairo. Visit the Hanging Church, which dates back to the 3rd century AD. Then see the Ben Ezra Synagogue, which is, according to a local tradition, located on the site where Moses was found when he was a baby. Continue on to see the Church of St. Barbara and the Church of Abu Serga, two of the oldest churches in Cairo.

Lovely trip with our tour guide Margo, experienced and very knowledgeable, would recommend!

  • Cairo Citadel, Old Cairo and Khan El Khalili: Private Tour

    2. Cairo Citadel, Old Cairo and Khan El Khalili: Private Tour

Enjoy a fantastic orientation tour of Cairo on an 8-hour excursion that takes in the major monuments of Old Cairo and the maze of streets and stalls of the historic Khan El Khalili Bazaar. Following a hotel pick-up from Cairo or Giza, you will drive up to the Saladin Citadel, constructed by Salah al-Din on the Moqattam Hills in 1183 AD as a defence against Crusader armies. Known for its fresh air and sweeping views of Cairo, it is now a preserved historic site of mosques and museums, including the Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha. Designed by the Turkish architect Yousif Boushnaq, who came to Cairo especially from Istanbul to build the great building, the mosque's alabaster structure stands in beautiful contrast to the sandstone city. Continue to the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, one of the oldest bazaars in the Middle East. Discover a maze of alleys that has been at the center of Cairo’s tradin...

A very good option that covers the main Islamic and Christian sites in Old Cairo and the Khan e Khalili bazaar. We had a very good guide Ahmed, who covered the history of the area and each site without an information overload. The highlight for us was the visit to the Citadel.

The entire tour was fantastic and informative. Abo was our driver and guide, he fetched us from the hotel and had so much detail about every place we were at. Thanks to Abo for making the heat bearable and sharing awesome facts along the way. The market was great - bought way more stuff than I would like to admit - the deals were just that good. I highly recommend the tour. Thank you Abo!

Occasional guide, private car for solo visit. Visiting the Coptic quarter is a must in Cairo. Addition of 24 euros for lunch and drinks.
