Enter the Freedom Tower at the Observatory Entrance on West Street at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time. Descend the escalator and check-in at the Guest Service Desk, located to the right of the entrance lines, with your barcoded ticket; do not stand in the ticket line at the top of the escalators.

Important information

Know before you go

  • All pre-purchased tickets are barcoded to let you skip the ticket purchase line at the Observatory entrance
  • Everyone has to queue for security, but Combination, All-inclusive and VIP Tour tickets receive an expedited security via the priority security line
  • Standard, Combination and VIP Tour tickets are for timed entry. If you miss your assigned entry time you will not receive replacement tickets or a refund
  • All-inclusive tickets allow you to enter at any time on your chosen day to visit
  • All-inclusive and VIP Tour tickets include a US$ 15 credit to drink or shop at the café, bar, restaurant or gift shop. Combination tickets include a $5 credit.
  • Standard, Combination and All-Inclusive tickets allow you to enter the observatory up to 15 minutes after your reserved time. Stay as long as you like
  • Guests under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
  • Children 5 and under are free with a paying adult
  • Advance reservations are recommended for One Dine Restaurant at “OpenTable”

The only viewing platform from the other side of Manhattan, which is why it's worth it. You have a nice view over the city. It was well organized and not too crowded. The view only took place in a closed room with windows and not outside.

A good time to go! We booked tickets on a Friday for 6:10pm that evening, with the observatory closing at 7pm. There were no queues! The Observatory wasn't overly busy which meant we were able to see everything easily. Lovely 360 night time views too!!

We visited on 8/11 having been to the memorial and 9/11 museum. We were feeling a bit low as the museum is a powerful place, but One World lifted our spirits! The staff were really friendly and helpful, and even though I knew what to expect the experience and views were outstanding. One thing to avoid is the $10 tablet that they pretend you need when they 'check' your ticket at the top - you'll just carry round a brick and spoil your visit. Just say NO THANKS and go in, they have already scanned your ticket on the way up and use it as an excuse to sell you the tablet rental. Just use your eyes and your camera and have a great time.
