Full description
Your full day excursion begins in the early morning when you’re picked up at your Antalya hotel and begin the drive to Pamukkale. After a lunch break you’ll visit the cascading snow-white terraced cliffs of this mysterious Cotton Palace. The calcite-laden waters that had created this unreal landscape come from springs located in a 200-meter high cliff that overlooks the plain. Marvel at the mineral forests, petrified waterfalls and the series of terraced basins created by these waters. At the end of the 2nd century B.C. the kings of Pergamon established the thermal spa of Hierapolis. The ruins of the baths, temples and other Greek monuments can be seen at the site. The temples were significant trade centers for ancient Hierapolis. See the Roman theater, the Apollo temple, Roman baths, fountains and the agora. After the tour, have a chance to swim in thermal pools. An additional option is to swim in Cleopatra’s Pool, for an extra fee.

Arranging pick up was fast and easy, and the trip went smoothly. The guide was focused on not letting us stand in the sun for too long while he was explaining the history of hierapolis, which we appreciated, given the fact that it was around 34 degrees that day. He explained things well and gave us the possibility to have some extra time exploring on our own, if we wanted to. We got a bit longer = 2 1/2 hours in all, which gave me the posibility to explore Necropolis and few other sites next to cleopatras spring. The tour guide even helped me arrange transport there so that I could walk back in my own tempo. All in all it was a very good day and I felt like the tour guide was willing to help you with whatever inquiry you might have. Which made my day so much simpler and that is what I wanted from this tour (instead of going solo). Thank you for a great day, it was a pleasure. I will definitely recommend this trip to others.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, with very good English. However, Pamukkale was somewhat less than impressive - overrun with tourists, with ruins that were either completely picked over or had yet to be researched at all. The pools themselves were amazingly beautiful- and only a handful were available for taking pictures without people in them (there were tourists everywhere); those with people in them were a sickly white (hopefully just calcium kicked up by all those tourists...). The scenery en route, as well as overlooked by Pamukkale, was amazing, however.
