Join our Glenfinnan tour departing from Inverness, traveling south along the stunning shores of Loch Ness. Next, we head to the highlight of the day: the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Surrounded by mountains along Loch Shiel, the Glenfinnan Monument commemorates the 1745 Jacobite Uprising. This location, also known for its role in Harry Potter, features Loch Shiel—the setting for Buckbeak's flight and the Triwizard Tournament scenes. From Glenfinnan, we continue west on the "Road to the Isles" or "Rathad nan Eilean," renowned for its spectacular scenery, including sandy beaches, dramatic hills, and unforgettable sea views. Our journey leads us to Mallaig, a picturesque fishing port, where you can enjoy lunch and sample local seafood while taking in scenic views. After Mallaig, we travel east to Loch Ness, stopping at Fort Augustus for refreshments with beautiful loch views. Our tour continues to the Falls of Foyers, a dramatic 140-foot waterfall winding through tall trees before meeting Loch Ness. Capture stunning photos here before heading to Dores Beach, the northern point of Loch Ness, which offers fantastic viewpoints for spotting Nessie! Finally, we return to Inverness, concluding your memorable 1-day Glenfinnan tour.

Day 1 Departing from Scotland’s capital city Edinburgh, we’ll begin our journey north, stopping to see the impressive Forth Railway Bridge. We will then continue on to the quaint Victorian town of Pitlochry, where you'll have time to explore and grab a morning coffee if you choose to. Continuing through the Cairngorms National Park we'll make our way to Fort Augustus for lunch. This is pretty village at the south end of Loch Ness, so you'll have time to try to spot to elusive monster Nessie. Next we head to Eilean Donan Castle* where we'll spend some time before crossing the bridge to Skye. Overnight: Skye Day 2 Enjoy a full day exploring the Isle of Skye. Your experienced and knowledgeable guide will ensure you get the most out of your day and enjoy sights such as the craggy Cuillin Mountains, the outstanding Trotternish Peninsula, The Kilt Rock and The Old Man of Storr. Portree is your lunch time stop, where you can enjoy delicious fish and chips next to the harbour – just watch out for the seagulls! Overnight: Skye Day 3 This morning we will continue to explore Skye, taking in some highlights in the south of the island. We will then join a ferry from Armadale to Mallaig (subject to availability), our lunch stop for the day. There may also be an opportunity to join a Wildlife Cruise here. Today you will enjoy a 1-way ride (approx 2 hours) on the Jacobite Steam Train. Day 4 After a restful night in Fort William we will start our journey south towards the impressive Glen Coe. We'll have ample time to take in this stunning glen and explore the Glen Coe Visitor Centre. We will then continue our drive through Rannoch Moor, one of the last really wild places in Scotland. If you want to experience the beauty of the Scottish Moor, this is the place! We will stop for lunch in Callander, situated on the River Teith this is where we'll say goodbye to the Highlands and continue into the Lowlands. Spend overnight on the Isle of Skye. Day 3: Explore the south of the island, known as the “Garden of Skye,” before taking the ferry to the west coast fishing village of Mallaig. Here you will have the option to board the Jacobite Steam Train to Fort William, one of the most spectacular railway journeys in the world. Cross the Glenfinnan viaduct and see a monument to Bonnie Prince Charlie’s campaign. You will make a stop to view the Glenfinnan Viaduct, made famous by the Harry Potter films. We will also be able to see Glenfinnan Monument, Loch Shiel - and the gorgeous scenery that surrounds it! Overnight in Skye. Day 3: A whole day to explore Skye You'll have the whole of the third day to explore Skye's mysteries and landscape with your guide. Here the mountains and beaches beckon, so lose yourself in the spectacular scenery of the Cuillin Mountains, the slanting hills of Quiraing, and the incredible Trotternish Peninsula. Overnight in Skye. Day 4: Castles, mountains, and on to Loch Ness Once you leave Skye your first stop will be to visit the stunningly beautiful Eilean Donan Castle (this is an optional extra). You’ll then continue your journey onwards to the fabled shores of Loch Ness. Here you will have the option to Urquhart Castle and take a cruise on the loch (optional extra), before ending the day in the capital of the Highlands: Inverness. Stay overnight in Inverness. Day 5: Historic battlefields and back to Edinburgh You’ll start your journey south and have the chance to visit the battlefield of Culloden (an optional extra), the site of the defeat of the Jacobite forces. Then you’ll pass the stunning Cairngorm Mountains and have time to explore the picturesque town of Pitlochry, before arriving back in Edinburgh.

Day 2: Today, we explore the Isle of Skye, also known as the 'Misty Isle': a bucket-list destination for its awe-inspiring scenery. This wee island is filled with ruined castles, breathtaking views, and faerie stories. Home to the legendary MacLeod and MacDonald Clans, your Guide will share Celtic myths and Viking legends from centuries past. We traverse the windswept landscape, admire the stunning coastline, and take in the dramatic mountain ranges. In the afternoon, we visit Dunvegan Castle, the ancestral home of the Chiefs of Clan MacLeod, before returning to Portree. Day 3: Be captivated by the enchanting Eilean Donan Castle, arguably Scotland’s most romantic view. Our adventure takes us to the heart of the Highlands, the Dundreggan Rewilding Centre. Here, we learn about the remarkable efforts of Trees for Life and their inspiring mission to restore Scotland's ancient Caledonian Pine Forest. Time for a bit of monster hunting! Loch Ness awaits, where we pause to spot the elusive Nessie while exploring Fort Augustus. A visit to the Commando Memorial treats us to impressive views of Britain's tallest peak, Ben Nevis. Heading southward, we explore the Highland village of Dunkeld and its historic riverside cathedral. As we journey back to Edinburgh, brace yourself for one last spectacle: the iconic Forth Rail Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We return to the capital in the early evening.

As we travel along the Great Glen admire Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, and then along the banks of Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle. Stay overnight in Inverness, the northernmost city of the United Kingdom and the pretty capital of the Highlands. The accommodation is reserved for you and should be paid for on arrival.  Day 2 After being collected from your accommodation it's only a short drive to Culloden Moor where the Jacobites were finally defeated by government soldiers in 1746, the last battle to be fought on British soil. You will have time to walk on the battlefield and learn more about this tragic event that killed 700 Highland clansmen in 3 minutes. From there, visit one of Scotland's most evocative and sacred prehistoric sites, the nearby 4,000-year-old stone circles and burial mounds at Clava Cairns. As you drive south through the Cairngorms National Park, you'll hear about the flora and fauna of this wonderful wilderness which was officially protected in 2003 and is the largest national park in the British Isles. After lunch in one of the charming villages inside the national park, arrive at the lively Highland town of Pitlochry. During your break here there is an option to visit the Blair Athol Distillery (sorry, no children under 8). Alternatives include a short walk to the famous hydro electric dam and salmon ladder, or Black Spout waterfall. Your final stop is a gentle riverside walk through Big Tree Country at Dunkeld, a beautiful way to finish the tour all seasons of the year. Return to Edinburgh by the iconic Forth Rail Bridge.
