Osaka: Main Sights and Hidden Spots Guided Walking Tour

Osaka: Main Sights and Hidden Spots Guided Walking Tour

Osaka is known for great food, quirky characters and an urban history much longer than Tokyo's. Get under the skin of this unique city on this guided walking tour with a professional English-speaking guide.  Start off with a visit to Osaka Castle Park. You won't go inside the castle, but will get to admire the grand and imposing exterior, and will stroll around the surrounding park.  Here you'll learn about the history of Osaka and how it was almost robbed from the Japanese 400 years ago.  A quick train ride takes you to Tsuruhashi, to explore the maze of Korea Town. Explore the narrow streets and alleys of this pre-war commercial district.  Another quick journey by public transport will take you to modern Harukas building. Enjoy the view from one of the high floors, then head underground to explore the food hall of the department store underneath. See high quality products for sale like killer puffer fish and Kobe beef, amongst others.  Not far from Harukas is the traditional district of Shin-sekai. See the slightly crumbling local highlights, perfectly frozen in time.  Next, head to Namba, considered to be the center of Osaka's present-day shopping, dining, and entertainment culture. Visit Dotonbori, Osaka’s version of Times Square in New York, and explore the quirky back streets with their own individuality and surprises in store. You’ll visit Kuromon Ichiba, a fresh fish market that's played a pivotal role for more than 150 years.  Finally, explore Doguyasuji, a kitchen and cooking district. Look around at the wax food models, Japanese "noren" (curtains that hang at kitchen entrances) and giant pottery pieces.

Kyoto/Osaka: Kyoto Coast, Amanohashidate & Ine Bay Day Trip

Kyoto/Osaka: Kyoto Coast, Amanohashidate & Ine Bay Day Trip

Join a full-day trip to experience a blend of natural beauty and unique culture from a meeting point in Osaka or Kyoto. Take in the magnificent vistas of Amanohashidate, seek blessings at Chionji Temple, and uncover the secrets of Kyoto at the boathouses of Ine. Accompanied by your guide and driver, venture to Amanohashidate, a sand bar known as one of Japan's three most scenic views. Stretching 3.6 km along the Japan Sea and Amanohashidate Bay, this masterpiece of nature has been formed by coastal sedimentation, adorned with around 8,000 pine trees. Admire white sandy beaches to the east and west – a truly unique natural landscape. See how the shape resembles a bridge reaching towards the sky, giving it the name “Amanohashidate” or Heaven's Bridge. Soak in pure natural beauty and ocean views of the islands. If you wish, take a cable car to Mt. Monju to behold Amanohashidate from an observation deck at your expense. From this vantage point, see Amanohashidate shaped like a dragon soaring into the sky, earning it the name “View of the Flying Dragon”. Enjoy a sightseeing car and attractions designed for all ages. Next, head to the Chionji Temple, also known as Bussharado (a temple for academic success). The temple's gate is the largest in the Tango region. Observe the unique fan-shaped omikuji (fortune-telling paper). When hung upside down, the width of the fan varies, symbolizing gradual improvement. Nearby, see the revolving bridge connecting Amanohashidate and Bussharado on land. When large ships need to pass, the bridge rotates 90 degrees to allow them through. Or head to the Amanohashidate Hot Springs to relax in natural spring waters with a view. Give the outdoor foot bath a try for free. Finally, journey to the charming world of Ine Boathouses, one of Kyoto's hidden gems. Marvel at the small fishing village renowned for its traditional boat-house architecture. Explore Ine on foot or by bicycle, or feed seagulls by boat , all while appreciating the coastal scenery.

Michael was a fantastic guide with a myriad of facts about Osaka and the Shinkensai area. I was a little worried how much I would be able to eat on the tour with a seafood allergy however Michael was super diligent and ordered alternative dishes and dish modifications for myself when he could. Highly recommend!

This tour was so fun, we met places and learned facts we wouldn't have if not for Joshua. Do have in mind that it is a walking tour so you'll probably need a metro or JR Pass, I would suggest the Suica. Thank you Joshua for your guidance.

A very peaceful experience. It was our last night in Japan and just felt like the perfect end to an amazing time.
